Mozilla Halts Work On Firefox For Windows Mobile

Mozilla has halted development of a mobile version of its Firefox browser for Windows Mobile. Although Mozilla had planned to deliver Fennec (Firefox mobile) to a multitude of platforms, one of its developers reveled today that Mozilla has halted the work being done on the Windows Mobile. Do not expect a Windows Phone 7 Series version either.
According to one of Firefox’s developers, Mozilla has temporarily abandoned Windows development because Microsoft is planning their future in mobile on Windows Mobile 7 (not 6.5).

April 2010 Delivery of Apple iPad Announced

It was announced that shoppers in the US will be able to purchase the Apple iPad Wi-Fi only model on April 3, 2010. The Wi-Fi and 3G models should be available later in April. Pre-orders will be taken online and in-store on March 12.
According to Stve Jobs, Apple’s chief executive, “The iPad is something completely new. We’re excited for customers to get their hands on this magical and revolutionary product and connect with their apps and content in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before.”

‘Phishing’ Scams Targets Mobile Banking

The next generation of “phishing” scams has been unleashed, focusing on mobile banking. This version seems to be much more damaging than earlier versions.
Mobile-banking applications have become more popular and so has the risk of downloading and installing a fraudulent app which can steal your account information and, potentially, any other data stored on your mobile device.

Google Voice Comes to the iPhone & Palm Pre

On Tuesday, Google unveiled a souped up mobile Web version of its Google Voice to run on the iPhone, as well as the Palm Pre. According to Vincent Paquet, senior product manager for Google Voice, the new mobile Web version of the product was as good as the native app, which runs on Android mobile phones.

Apple buys Quattro

On Tuesday Apple has agreed to purchase Quattro Wireless, a mobile advertising and publishing company.
This will put Apple, maker of the popular iPhone, in head-to-head competition with Google. Google just unveiled its new Nexus One phone also on Tuesday.
Quattro manages advertising networks for smartphone applications and for the mobile Web. Its customers includes companies such as Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, Netflix and Disney. Quattro also designs mobile Web pages.
The terms of the purchase were not disclosed. An Apple spokesman stated the company is “looking forward to developing exciting new opportunities for Quattro Wireless customers,” but had no further comment.
