Google vs. Apple: The Battle Continues
Who will win the battle of the smartphones Google or Apple?
The battle of the Apps: Apple seems to be winning the app war as of now, having almost five times more apps than Google. One of the issues with Apple is app developers have to get their products cleared by Apple’s standards police before appearing in the App store. That process can literally take months.
Google has taken an opposite stance, opening its platform to developers. Developers seem to be embracing Google’s approach, and as Android grows, more developers are writing Android apps. This means some of the highest-quality apps are more than likely going to Google’s side. Google has a lot of ground to make up, but the app war may just be beginning.
The device and price war: IPhone OS runs on only three devices: the iPhone 3G S, the iPhone 3G and the iPod Touch. Prices are ranging from $99 to $299 with a new contract.
Android is currently available thorugh three carriers covering 10 smartphones in the U.S. Prices are ranging between $79 to $199 with a new contract. Android also runs on several other devices, including some netbooks and the Barnes & Noble Nook e-reader.
